Study of the phonetics and phonemics of Standard American English and its intonation.  With special attention paid to those aspects of English that present difficulty to the Spanish speakers.  Includes phonetic transcription.

This course provides practice in the writing of compositions and making oral reports upon  selected readings, including essays, short stories, poems, drama and novelsAttention will be given as needed to grammar and idiomatic expressions. This course or its equivalent is a requisite for graduation.

This course serves as an introduction to Technical Writing. The main purpose of the course is to train students in planning, organizing, and writing technical reports in English. this course provides training in the fundamental  techniques used in business writing. Special emphasis is given to the process of rewriting, drafting, revising and editing objective and organized technical reports such as memos, business letters, formal and informal reports, user manuals, instructions, and research papers.

Course designed for students in the business administration and transfer students from the Department of Office Systems. Provides training in effective written business communication in English. Special attention is given to the logical and psychological processes governing the process of writing business letters.

This course is designed to help students increase their confidence, fluency, and correctness in the use of spoken English.  Special attention is given to pronunciation, developing a strong vocabulary, and those features present in oral language such as idiomatic expressions. The idea is to provide the students with the necessary tools to improve their oral competency; to this end, the student will move from simple dialogues to dialogues with a higher technical context.
